HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

The kids are out Trick or Treating, and then they are going to the church on the corner for a party! I think this will be a better year than last year. Jake met some kids up at the Church last year and acted crazy. He's not a nut this year ;-)! I hope everyone has a safe evening.
Tired

Thank God it is about time to go home! I am SO pooped!!!!!!! All I want to do is get to the house and lay down. I got some work done today, but not enough. I am really not too pleased with the overall quantity of my work. I could do better if I just had the energy. I like doing a good job, but I guess no one is perfect. I'll see if I can get here really early tomorrow. I seem to have more energy in the morning!

Morning

A quick note. I'm at work. Feel less assertive today, but that's okay. By the end of the day yesterday my assertiveness I felt yesterday had turned kind of to aggression and I don't like that. I would rather be a tad lazy and peaceful. Funny how this medication can mess with your mind.

Well, I have a million things to do and I have to take my Barley Green (YUCK!!!)

Work

Well, work is going fine. I am actually getting stuff done. Sending myself messages on my Palm Top constantly because I can't remember my own freakin' name 90% of the time. It is working though and that's what counts.

I am working on a few web pages for the Virual Trade and E-Commerce Center here at work. Easy stuff. Just text and links. I will put links to them here when I get them done. I have TONS of other stuff to do though as well. I actually have to time everything I do now, so I can get it done. Kind of squirrely, huh?

My piggie at Swine Online is doing well. If you are playing this, please email me and let me know what your piggie's name is and I will try to beat your butt ;-).

I've started feeling better, must be because I am about ready to go home. Then, by the time I get home, I will be pooped again ;-).

Rough night, better day

My new weekly shot kicked my butt last night. It was like it settled in my joints, and I was in big time pain. This morning I have felt better, I went and got groceries and am putting them up a little bit at a time.

Anna (Jake's Girlfriend) spent the whole day with him yesterday so that kept him busy. I'm really glad because he would have been lonely. Leroy went and got her late last night and took her home.

Jake is getting out of the hospital today. They cut out his toenail and have been giving him those IV antibiotics, soaking his toe, etc. I will go get him in about an hour. One thing I hate is waiting at the hospital for someone to get out. I want them to have everything done and all I have to do is pick him up.

The kids are helping us straighten up the house. Leroy has been folding clothes, and I am working on the kitchen. I am going to make Dumplings tonight. My buddy Kindly Rat needs to make a trip down to Tampa and get him some.

Saturday, October 27

How could I have forgotten!!

Leroy got a GREAT new job making 3 more dollars an hour, full benefits, plus his foreman lives by us and he can ride to work with him every day and save gas!!!!!!

Now is that a BLESSING or what!!!!
Jake in the hospital

Well, they admitted him. Did minor surgery on his toe last night to get the toenail off and open up the infected area to drain and start healing. Then, they are giving him IV antibiotics. I'm glad we are getting it taken care of though! One thing after another around our house!

My new "once a week" shot comes by Fed Ex today! Wonder how the side effects will differ?

Other that all that, it's a chilly Saturday morning in Tampa, FL. Makes me wish I had already quite smoking, because I have to go outside to smoke.

I was extremely exhausted last night, but better today ;-)!!!

The Quarter -- What's YOUR Viking Name?

This is what it said about me:

Your Viking Name is...
Jódís Shadowsbane
(Well, actually, that wouldn't really be your name -- since you're female, your name would be something like "Jódís Björnsdottir". But this is the twenty-first century, and you want to be known for who you are, not for who your father was, right? Right.)

Your Viking Personality: You might have a Norse name, but you really don't have what it takes to be a true Viking. Unlike most Vikings, you don't have a quick temper; you tend to think about your actions before you undertake them. Sometimes you think too long. You might be able to hold your own on the battlefield, but you're no "berserker".

If you ever tried to make a voyage in a Viking longboat, you would die. Either from seasickness, or from your shipmates throwing you overboard into shark-infested waters. Vikings make fun of you all the time. Not always behind your back, either.

You have a fairly pragmatic attitude towards life, and tend not to expend effort in areas where it would be wasted. Other Vikings would be calling you "tree-hugging hippie peacenik" if the phrase had been invented.

Destiny Update

When she got home from the daycare yesterday, she was really ill!! High temp, lethargic. Jacob said her breath smelled bad so I look at her throat and it was VERY swollen, red, and had pus pockets (sorry) on her tonsils. I had called the Doc yesterday and they said if she was not better by today to bring her in. It was my intention to take her in this morning.

She had a low grade temp about midnight, but this morning she had no temp, was active, and the pus pockets were gone, swelling and reddness had gone down. The power of prayer!

Well, my piggie is gonna die. I have no more food or money online for him. I am pissed because the game is suppose to last for 7 days but he is 9 days old and I ran out of stuff to feed him. I will start again tomorrow, but I am very dissappointed!

They still have not called Leroy to start that job. I hope they hurry. I had to give Jake 55 dollars for his Driver's Ed class and temp licsense today. That had to come out of savings.

I got to the Liver Doc today and find out how my blood work looks on this medication. I know it kicks my butt! Some days are okay, so are not. I don't EVER have high energy, or feel romantic. I tried some Noni juice that Jacob's Girlfriend's mother gave me. It seems to work a little, but tastes SO bad, it is hard to take ;-)!

Jake has really settled down. I am so proud of him. He used to be such a player. He has made a big change since him and Anna have gotten together. He was always a good boy, but had girls coming out of his ears. I am happy for him.......and her ;-)!!!!

Destiny

Destiny had 103.8 temp night before last and kept throwing up. Leroy had to work at this lady's house yesterday and had an interview in the morning, so I (after being up half the night) had to take Destiny to the Doc. The tested her for strep throat but the initial test came out okay, they are waiting for the 48 hour one. In the meantime yesterday, I was SO exhausted I could not move when we got home from the Doctor's. I was hungry, but too exhausted to eat.

Last night she continued to have high temps, but I am going to have to give it another day before I take her back. I pray she gets better. I am very tired again today, but I will make it to work. Leroy got the job he interviewed for but does not know when he will start.

Monday, October 22

Ready for Bed

And it's just about 7 pm. Destiny is STILL sick. Tonight she threw up on the couch. If she has to go to the doctor, I hope it is when Leroy is still off work.

My piggie is up to almost 1,000 pounds! That Swine Online is really addictive. It's a lot of fun raising a virtual piggie.

I made homemade waffles and grits w/cheese for dinner. Leroy loved it. I haven't used the waffle iron for over a year LOLOLOL! Well, I'm gonna have to go take a bath and get some rest. As long as I get plenty of sleep I can make it through the day pretty good. I have a 7 a.m. breakfast fundraiser thing to go to in the morning. It is to raise money for a half way house for women getting out of jail. Wonderful cause!!!!

Nite, nite!
Quick Note

I think Leroy may have found another postion. We did do the sign up for unemployment benefits online last night, but he said he thinks he has this position with the company he is filling out an application with now. I certainly hope so.

I'm gettting back on track here at work after having been out, teaching that class, for a week. I have a busy afternoon, so I better get done with what I need to this morning! ;-)

Sunday, October 21

Quiet

Only Destiny and I are up. She's kind of sick. Sneezy, cough, slight temp, stuff nose. I'm going to have to go to Eckards and get her some over the counter medicine.

Leroy stepped on something last night and cut the shit out of his foot. Blood everywhere! I got the bleeding stopped and it rapped up and all, but when he went to get Jake from the game it started again. Before I got in the bathroom, when he had first cut it, he was just sitting there with some blood soaked TP letting it bleed on the tile floor. I got him to put it over the tub and applied pressure with a white wash clothe, got some peroxide on it, etc. Sometimes I wonder about him and what he would do if I wasn't there to take care of him.

I may make French Toast for breakfast. I can do a couple of things before the kids get up. I feel pretty good this morning. I usually do if allowed to sleep as long as I want, and can relax in the morning. :-(

Saturday, October 20

Dinner

Well, I made bean burritos, with refried beans, Velveeta Cheese, sour cream and lettuce, for dinner. I also made two sweet potatoe pies. Leroy LOVES 'tater pies.

I was able to get back on to Swine Online and Pooter (my pig) is still alive. He is up over 700 pounds now. You really need to play this game. It's a lot of fun!!

Jake is getting ready to go to the Hockey game, he worked all day in the house. Just finished the last of the laundry. Lot of help my teenage son. Don't know what I would do without him. I have read lots of blogs by teenagers who are getting high and doing Ecstasy, etc. I don't know what tomorrow will bring, but right now Jake's main interest is female ;-). Must be the Snyder blood in him.

My pies should be cool by now. They smell great!!! Wish I had a digital camera......I'd take you a picture in smellavision ;-)!
The Economy

Well, Leroy got laid off his job yesterday. I like to believe that God closes one door, to be able to open another. I hope the other one open's fast, because it is the right around the holiday's, plus our bills are higher than just my income.

Jake went and spent the day with Anna (his girlfriend) and her family yesterday. They went to the movies in the evening. Georgie went to a Halloween party. Georgie will be going to Raymond James Stadium tonight and Jake is going to a Hockey game with one of his friends. In the mean time, they are all cleaning the house! I have to go get groceries soon.

This is the first Saturday Leroy hasn't worked in about 2 months and he has some stuff on his trailer that has to go to the dump and he is doing that today. The guy whose house he got the stuff from has to reimburse him for the dump fee. I hope he does it fast ;-)!

I had put Leroy a new TV and DVD player on layaway at K Mart for Christmas, but if he doesn't get a job by next week I will get the money back on it. We need your prayers. Leroy needs a job. The Lord will provide though!

My Piggy

I hate to start something and not be able to finish. I don't know what happened to Swine Online, but I am disappointed. I am pooped tonight as usual. I wish I had milk, I would make cereal for dinner!

My "desire" is not existant anymore, much to Leroy's dismay. He doesn't say anything though and I try to be nice every so often. It all must be the medication of course. Glad he is so understanding. Not all men would be!
Pig

I can't get to my pig at Swine Online . I got hooked on this game where you spend a week raising a pig, and now today I can't get to him to feed him. It keeps giving me an error message so I guess the server it's on is down, but I hope my piggie doens't die.

I'm at Hillsborough Community College teaching my noncustodial parents this week. They're kind of crazy ;-)
Don't wanna go.......

to work today............wanna curl up in bed and stay there. Warm, cozy.

Sunday, October 14

HI!!!!

Well today seems like a nice day. I'm not feeling too tired, and I think I will bake some bread. What I want to do is make that zuccinni bread that I have a recipe on here for, but I don't have any squash. I do have some bananas though, maybe I'll so something with those.

I bought the kids some hamburger patties yesterday, and Leroy and I some veggie patties, so that's what we are having I guess. Joy called yesterday, she's 7 1/2 months pregnant now. The other girl in their relationship is 5 1/2 months along. I still get tripped out just thinking about it. I took Jacob and Lee Lee to the doc Friday. Jake had a ingrown toe nail that got very inflected and he is on 875 mg Augmentin twice a day, Lee Lee has had problems with back pain for quite a while and they finally ordered some x rays.

George went to a birthday party at the skating rink yesterday. So things are pretty normal around here. I will be teaching my noncustodial parents life and job readiness skills next week. I can always sit down if I need to.

I managed to get Leroy's appt with the liver doc changed to be the same day as me. That way we can just do it together and I will know just what is up with him.

Everyone but me went to the Flea Market, so I think now would be a good time to get some stuff done!

Saturday, October 13

Movies

We went to see Training Day last night at the movies. I didn't like it. It made police look corrupt and showed the worst of human nature. My husband didn't like it either.

We had pizza, took all the kids, and Jake brought his girlfriend. The outting was nice in general though!

Linda gave me Jeff's Recipe

Zucchini Bread/Cake

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Pam spray 2 loaf pans or 1 bundt pan
Into large mixing bowl combine:

3 eggs
2 cups sugar (brown is better or half of each)
1 cup vegetable oil (prefer canola oil)
2 cups zucchini, grated raw (food processor works great)
3 teaspoons vanilla (15 ml)
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt (5ml)
1 teaspoon baking soda (5ml)
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
3 teaspoons cinnamon (15ml)
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
1/2 cup raisins (or craisins)

Pour into prepared pans
Bake for 60 minutes
Set on wire rack 15 minutes
Turn bread/cake onto serving plate until cool
Store in airtight container

I like using a bundt pan because it holds the whole thing, uses one pan, is pretty, and easy to cut.

** Before sticking it in the oven I folded in a couple of beaten egg whites. Sounded like a good idea.

I skipped the beaten egg whites....I'm lazy...LOL
Tomorrow is Friday

I don't know if it is possible to get any more tired that I was today and still be able to function. I woke up as weak as a kitten. I had already started a pot of Navy beans yesterday, and I had Georgie make some corn bread, I'm gonna do some yellow rice and take my tired butt to bed. I can give children directions from there ;-)
What time is it?

The Cost Of Kids

I have seen repeatedly the breakdown of the cost of raising a child, but this is the first time I have seen the rewards listed this way. It's nice, really nice!!!!

The government recently calculated the cost of raising a child from birth to 18 and came up $160,140! That doesn't even touch college tuition. For those with kids, that figure leads to wild fantasies about all the money we could have banked if not for (insert your child's name here). For others, that number might confirm the decision to remain childless. But $160,140 isn't so bad if you break it down. It translates into $8,896.66 a year, $741.38 a month, or $171.08 a week. That's a mere $24.44 a day! Just over a dollar an hour. Still, you might think the best financial advice says don't have children if you want to be "rich". It is just the opposite.

What do your get for your $160,140?

Naming rights. First, middle, and last!
Glimpses of God every day.
Giggles under the covers every night.
More love than your heart can hold.
Butterfly kisses and Velcro hugs.
Endless wonder over rocks, ants, clouds, and warm cookies.
A hand to hold, usually covered with jam.
A partner for blowing bubbles, flying kites, building sandcastles, and skipping down the sidewalk in the pouring rain. Someone to laugh yourself silly with no matter what the
boss said or how your stocks performed that day. For $160,140, you never have to grow up.
You get to finger-paint, carve pumpkins, play
hide-and-seek, catch lightning bugs, and never stop believing in Santa
Claus. You have an excuse to keep: reading the Adventures of Piglet and Pooh, watching Saturday morning cartoons, going to Disney movies, and wishing on stars.
You get to frame rainbows, hearts, and flowers under refrigerator magnets and collect spray painted noodle wreaths for Christmas, hand prints set in clay for Mother's Day, and cards with backward letters for Father's Day.
For $160,140, there is no greater bang for your buck.
You get to be a hero just for retrieving a Frisbee off the garage roof, taking the training wheels off the bike, removing a splinter, filling the wading pool, coaxing a wad of gum out of bangs, and coaching a baseball team that never wins but always gets treated to ice cream regardless. You get a front row seat to history to witness the first step, first word, first bra, first date, and first time behind the wheel.
You get to be immortal.
You get another branch added to your family tree, and if you're lucky, a long list of limbs in your obituary called grandchildren.
You get an education in psychology, nursing, criminal justice, communications, and human sexuality that no college can match.
In the eyes of a child, you rank right up there with God. You have all the power to heal a boo-boo, scare away the monsters under the bed, patch a broken heart, police a slumber party, ground them forever, and love them without limits, so one day they will, like you, love without counting the cost.

ENJOY YOUR KIDS (and grandkids) !!!!!!

Work, and more work

Leroy had his biopsy yesterday, he was back to work today, and him and both boys are now out doing a side job. Cleaning and clearing four lots. I was back to work today, but didn't get much accomplished. I did cook a good dinner tonight. Whole wheat noodles and mushroom soup sauce with chopped broccoli, salad and bisquits.

Jamila (8) is washing dishes, and Lee Lee (6) is sweeping the dining room floor. The kids want me to bake cookies for Halloween, and I am going to try my best to have enough energy to do just that. I love to bake and do stuff for the kids! I haven't felt much like it lately, but I hope to get some energy back. A friend of mine was telling about this thing called Reiki, that is a transferal of energy. It probably sounds weird to you, but I am kind of open minded right about now.

Well, the little girls Lee Lee (6) and Destiny (3) are both bathed, I am going to give them all some store bought cookies and then it is off to bed! I need a hot bath and a soft bed ;-)!

Sunday, October 7

Rainy

We're having some showers here in usually Sunny Florida. We need it though!

Leroy is not feeling well today, but as much as he works it is bound to catch up with him sooner or later. All the kids are in the house watching TV, Georgie is playing the Play Station in his room. I have been up and down trying to do a little in the house, and rest some, as not to get too tired and not be able to get up at all. After my running around yesterday morning, I was not able to get up again the rest of the afternoon..

I haven't heard anything from Joy lately. I don't know what is up with that. No telling. Well, think I'll visit some of my regular blogs that I visit and see what some other folks have been up to.

Saturday

Busy at work, busier at home......combined with this new medication therapy and this has been a crazy week! It's amazing how much a human being can endure ;-). I figure if I can give birth to 6 kids, I can do anything though!

Well, I have errands to run this morning. Have to go pay on the lay away at K Mart, deposit Leroy's check, go get groceries. Lee Lee and Jamila spent the night at their "Aunt" Lillie's (my best friend) house last night. It was her twin's birthday. Today at 4 pm, George and his "Kenly Soldiers" group are going to Orlando to one of the amusement parks there. I forget which. Jake went out to eat with his new girlfriend and her family last night. She has a very nice family. I really like her mother. I don't even know what time they got home last night ;-)!

I better go get dressed. I'm gonna give Jake another hour before I have to wake him up, so I can go. I may take George with me.

All is well

So far so good with my shots, etc. I took my second shot yesterday night and didn't have any real problems. It was hard to get up this morning, but what's new with that ;-). I had some nausea, but that's not new either. One thing good is that I seem to have lost a lot of my appetite. This is not a bad thing considering I was about 40 pounds over weight. A size 16. When I went to the Doc, I had already lost 5 pounds just from not eating meat. My tubby belly seems to be going down and that's great.

I want to quit smoking this month, and I think that may be possible. I think I'll give it a couple of weeks and see how I feel.
