P R I O R I T I E S

I asked God to grant me patience. God said, No.
Patience is a byproduct of tribulations; it isn't
granted, it is earned.

I asked God to give me happiness. God said, No.
I give you blessings. Happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain. God said, No.
Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares
and brings you closer to me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow. God said, No.
You must grow on your own, but I will prune you to
make you fruitful.

I asked for all things that I might enjoy life. God said
No. I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things.

I ask God to help me LOVE others, as much as God
loves me. God said... Ahhhh, finally you have the idea.

If you love God, send this to ten people and back
to the person that sent it.

"Stop telling God how big your storm is. Instead
tell your storm how big your GOD is."

Perfectionist...........Nit Picker.........Just not nice..........?????????

I wonder if there is something wrong with me wanting things done right? Maybe I approach people wrong, but if you tell someone 5 times that something needs to be done, don't I have a right to expect it to be done? If YOU know you have a task to do, how many times does someone have to ask you complete that task before YOU get it done? Then is it done right or half ass?

A nice lady at a Chain of Daisies has linked to my site. I am going to add her to the ones on the left side with the rest of the good ones as soon as I get a chance!

This weekend

I have a lot that happened this weekend, but I'm at work and don't have time to put it all down. I will say that Joy called last night and said her boyfriend is cheating on her and the other girl he is with and she wants to come back to Tampa. If you haven't been reading this blog long, you may want to click on FAMILY DETAILS over to the right and it will explain a little about that situation. If that page needs to be updated though.

Other stuff that was TOO crazy happened this weekend. I'll try to get it down later.

TGIF

Well, I took Molly (our puppy) to the vet this morning. She had her first set of shots, was checked for worms, and was given stuff to prevent heart parasites, fleas, ticks and ear mites. The vet said she is a Chow-Shepard mix. She is about 4 months old now and already weighs 29 pounds. It cost me $120 but that covers the next visit and the finish of all the shots. She will go again in 3 weeks.

I am tired. It has been a hard working week, even as short as it has been.

Jamila Quotes

At the dinner table the other night Georgie was asking his Dad if he had ever seen signs that said "FOR BLACKS ONLY". His dad told him that what it really used to say was either "WHITES ONLY" or "COLORED ONLY". I asked my children how that felt about that, and they indicated that it really did not efffect them, but just then Jamila said "Mommy where would we sit on the bus cause we are mixed?"

I thought this was hilarious.................

Then.............

This morning I was picking out clothes for my girls and I gave them each a dress. No one had any problems except Jamila. I gave her a pinkish dress with flowers and a white collar. She said "Mommy, this color doesn't look good with my brown skin. This dress is for white girls" I, eventually let her change............heaven forbid she should not wear the right colors!

Movies

We were going to the movies to watch ALI last night at the drive in, but it started sprinkling.........sooooo we went to Block Busters. The girls got Legally Blonde. I watched it this morning, it was pretty good. I got Jeepers Creeper, it was REALLY dumb. It would be good for teenagers though. The boys got Scary Movie 2, I will watch that later today.

Now........what should I lay out for dinner???????????

TGIF

Yes, I am TOO glad today is the last day of my work week!!! I have run out of steam..............and that's the truth. I will even be able to get off work a little early today because I have to price digital cameras at BEST BUY. I didn't get too it yesterday.

Well, gotta client to see!

Work

Man, I got a lot done today!!! I'm tired now, have 3 more people to see, have to go by the Doc's office and pick up a blood work paper, have to go to BEST BUY and price digital cameras for my work, and go by the Department of Children and Families, then..................finally................home.

I haven't had any pain pills for 4 days. Right this minute my back, neck and head are killing me, but I am surviving. I will get them again this weekend, but I am not going to take them unless I have to. I just wish regular "over the counter" stuff worked.

Jake cooked wings last night. They were good. The house is a mess right now. Since I have not had my pills, I have not had the energy to help the kids clean, and if I don't help, it does not get done right.

I wonder if they have neck transplants..................
Sleep

I had problems again last night sleeping. I was up until after 2 a.m. I am sure getting tired of this.

Leroy is getting better, oh well.............I better get to work.................

Wednesday, January 16

poop
I don't feel good

I guess I am going to have to break down and go buy a thermomiter (no, I can't spell). I don't feel well, yet I want ice cream. I have not been sleeping well either. I get, what used to be called, the "Heebie Jeebies" when I try to sleep. I had to get up last night and sleep in the living room to keep from disturbing Leroy. Everytime I would nod off, while I was in bed, I would turn and slap him. Weird.

Blogger was not publishing for a while.

Pills

I called the Doc Friday and told him I needed another prescription for my pain pills (Oxycontin). He wrote it, I went by and picked it up and, after work, I went to the drug store. After waiting 45 minutes they told me there was no 30mg of this medicine and that because the Doc had made a mistake and saying loudly "THIS IS A CONTROLED SUBSTANCE AND IF IT IS NOT WRITTEN CORRECTLY THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO". So I say, "Why don't you call the Doc and see what he wants to do". They say "THIS MEDICINE IS FEDERALLY CONTROLLED AND THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO". Naturally, I got very embarrassed and left.

I had a rough weekend, but the Doc's buddy Doc in his office called me in a script for Vicaden. I do not like those pills at ALL. They make you feel funny and your mouth tastes weird.

I am going to call the Doc and see what he says today. I may just try to suffer along. It is too humiliating to get what you need to feel NORMAL.

Leroy

He is somewhat better, but probably will never get totally well working in dirt like he does (running heavy equipment). We are like a couple of elderly folks comparing pills and pains. It is so weird.

Leroy

By the time I got home yesterday, Leroy was even sicker so I told him to go to the Doctor's Walk In Clinic. When he got there (Jake went with him), the almost called an ambulance. They thought he had pnuemonia, so he went to the Emergency room. Now, since Leroy just started his job 2 months ago, his new insurance has not kicked in yet so that is going to be a HUGE bill we have to pay. At the hospital, they said he had a chronic broncial infection, gave him IV anti-biotic and steriods. They have him 3 prescriptions that came to $150. I already had a nebulizer from when Lee Lee was little so they gave him stuff to go in that, more steriods, and antibiotics that cost $65 for 7 pills!!!! He is feeling better though, Praise GOD!

Work

The new pain pills I have been taking are working well. I am seeing clients again at work, and am able to accomplish tasks that I was not able to at work for the last couple of months. I actually like work again. Too bad the pain pills are so contriversial (don't ask me what's wrong with my spelling tonight). I like feeling normal again. Wish I could feel that way without drugs!

Quick Note

It's actually kind of nice to get back to work. I like starting a new year. I have tons to do, but I am actually liking doing it!

I enjoy the new Windows XP. I wish I could afford a new computer at home. Wonder if Best Buy has lay-a-way.......................

Monday, January 7

Hi
Here it is...

I have been promising to put my sister Paula's recipe for Pumpkin-Cranberry Bread on here and I have finally gotten around to it.

This is the BEST stuff I have ever tasted!!!!

Sunday, January 6

My new Grandson, Randy De'Wayne Banks Jr., 8 lbs, born January 5 at 3:51 a.m.

It's amazing how the birth of a new grand child can make you almost be able to tolerate the child's parent. I can't stand that boy Joy is with, but I am very happy about my new grand baby. I wish I could see him and get some of that sweet baby breath kisses.
Leroy

Leroy is very sick. Guess it's the flu. He has had a high temp since he made it home from work yesterday. I don't even know how he made it through the day, he was practically dilerious. I am giving him Thera Flu, Ibprofen, Vitamin C, Echoneisa, and Antibiotics. I made him chicken soup last night, and oatmeal this morning. I was up from about 3 on with him. I had to get that temp down. It finally broke at about 4:30 a.m.

I am constantly spraying the house with Lysol, hoping none of the kids come down with this. It would be a really bad time considering I just had two weeks vacation time.

I feel okay. Those new pain pills seem to work pretty well in combination with Ibprofen.

Jake went and saw the movie ALI last night, he got home around 1 a.m. Him and I have lots of clothes to fold, but if we do it together it should be okay.

Saturday, January 5

Saturday

Well I got all the paper work done that needed to be done. Bills are sent out. Christmas pictures sent to most folks, although I had to miss a few. I need to get enough energy to put the pictures on my Family Pictures web log. Maybe I can do that later.

Jake is painting George's room, Georgie is going to get his hair cut and the girls and I may go to Walmart. Leroy is sick, but went to work yesterday.

Joy called last night. She is in labor. I'm waiting to hear back from her. I am going to have another grandchild any minute. How strange that sounds. A little boy this time. I wonder when I will get to see him.

Friday, January 4

Moving slow

Well, Leroy bought a new truck with new payments and we have sold his old truck. It is finally gotten cold here.

Jake's room is now painted too, and we have the paint to do George's. I have to go down to the DMV and get another title for the old truck so we can get it to the new owner.

I have been off work now 2 weeks and it has been a good 2 weeks. Monday, it is back to work for me. I sure do like staying home!!!! What should I could for dinner tonight? I made chicken and dumplings the 2nd. I guess Kindly Rat missed that LOLOLOLOL.

Tuesday, January 1

Dinner

I'm back to cooking more now. Tonight we are having Bar B Q chicken breasts, hot dogs, green beans, pasta and sauce.

My sister sent me her WONDERFUL recipe for pumpkin bread and I will make a page for it and get you a link to it tomorrow. This pumpkin bread is the BEST!!!!
Here's wishing you, one and all,

a very Happy New Year,

and in the New Year to come....

May your hair, your teeth,
your face-lift, your abs,
and your stocks not fall.
~~
May you get a clean bill of health
from your dentist, your cardiologist,
your gastro-endocrinologist, your urologist,
your proctologist, your plumber,
and the IRS.
~~
May you find a way to travel
from anywhere to anywhere
in the rush hour in less than an hour,
and when you get there,
may you find a parking space.
~~
May what you see in the mirror
delight you
and what others see in you
delight them.
~~
May the telemarketers wait
to make their sales calls
until you finish dinner.
May your check book
and your budget balance,
and may they include
generous amounts for charity.
~~
May you remember to say "I love you"
at least once a day
to your spouse, your child,
and your parents
but not to your secretary
your nurse, your masseuse,
your hairdresser, or your tennis instructor.
~~
May we live as intended,
in a world at peace,
with awareness of
the beauty in every sunset,
every flower's unfolding petals,
every baby's smile,
and every wonderful, astonishing,
miraculous beat of our hearts.
